In-House Equipment

All pertinent equipment located at E.S.S. is under current calibration standards.

Automatic Network Analysis using Vector and Scalar Analyzers
We have the latest vector and scalar analyzers with time domain, capable of testing components for amplitude, phase, group delay, and design verification from DC up to 65 GHz. These systems are used for testing, analysis, design verification, and qualification testing for all types of active and passive components. We measure all S-parameters for VSWR, Insertion loss, Isolation and any other microwave test requirement.

Network Analyzer Equipment List:

  • HP8722D with Time domain and TRL options:  50 MHz to 40 GHz. Swept automatic Vector network Analyzer system. With time domain, we interrogate components for design issues and product improvements and locate the physical areas of the problem. The TRL option allows us to calibrate a system for testing microstrip and stripline components using a better calibration standard system.
  • Anritsu 37397C: 40MHz to 65GHz. Provides us with the same testing capabilities of the HP8722D, but allows us to go higher in frequency.
  • HP8753D:  300 KHz to 3.0 GHz. Swept automatic Vector network Analyzer system. Provides all of the features of the higher frequency analyzers with low frequency capability.
  • HP8757D Scalar Network Analyzer system:10 MHz to 50 GHz. using a complete line of dual waveguide Reflectometry setups from WR650 to WR-22. This system utilizes single Swept network Analyzer system for magnitude measurements of insertion loss, isolation and VSWR.

Our analyzers provide data in email, Excel, and JPEG formats in addition to normal hard copy plots for ease of communication, graphical test reports, and further data/mathematical analysis using the tools of modern computers.

Spectrum and Time Analysis:
We have time oscilloscopes, TDR (Time Domain reflectometers) and spectrum analyzers from 100 KHz to 22 GHz for single frequency and high dynamic range measurements. We test components and frequency stability devices with this type of equipment.

Spectrum Analyzer and Oscilloscope Equipment List:

  • Will-TEK, 9101 Digital Spectrum Analyzer: 100 KHz to 4 GHz. for analyzing time based or frequency modulated signals, recording data, side lobes, signal to noise and RF leakage.
  • HP8565A Spectrum Analyzer: 10 MHz to 22 GHz. for analyzing time based or frequency modulated signals.
  • AEA 20/20 TDR:  Digital and field ready, TDR used for cable analysis, opens/shorts, and cable analysis in the time domain.  Use to detect non-conformities and manufacturing flaws in cables, or other non visual components that may have problems.
  • HP8082A:  Pulse/Function generator. Allows variations in pulse width, PRF, pulse shape, pulse delay and rise/fall times for pulse analysis and responses of devices.
  • Sweep/Function generator system: 100 KHz to 20 MHz. Used for low frequency or non-sinusoidal swept measurements. Using this setup we can measure, simulate and duplicate pulsed systems and test setups for rise and fall times, changes in pulse shape, frequency drop off, modulation effects and data rate analysis.
  • TEK2024B; 200 MHz, 4 channel, 2 GHz sampling digitizing oscilloscope for time domain measurements.
  • Related and Support Test Equipment:  In addition to the above list of equipment, our lab is furnished with many power meters, oscilloscopes, sweep generators, waveguide and coaxial hardware, fixtures, and most normal accessories as would be expected within a microwave laboratory.  In addition, we typically procure or rent any equipment that may be special or required for particular tests that we feel should be part of our lab, all at no additional cost to you.

Environmental Equipment:

  • High Power Testing: We have high power sources and test capabilities both in and out of house. This testing service provides our customers with high power verification and heating requirements.
  • Temperature Chambers: Our chambers used in conjunction with our test equipment, can verify components operate over temperature. We provide the equipment, setup and test hardware.
  • Model Shop: We have a small in-house model shop for fixture design, and component modifications. Our shop is dedicated to engineering reworks or designs to expedite in house jobs.
